Sixth grade students spent a week writing their own stories, and yesterday they went over to the Elementary to read and share their work with the Kindergarten class. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and hard to say which class enjoyed it more~the storytellers or their audience.

If you watched the Lions vs. Panthers game on November 18th, you just might have seen this ASC Middle School student on Ford Field during halftime. Ava had a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform alongside the Detroit Lions Cheerleaders as a Junior Detroit Lions Cheerleader! She and over 100 other Junior Cheerleaders had two days of practice to learn a routine before taking the field to entertain Lions and Panthers fans. Way to go, Ava!

The cool temperature and snow didn’t stop these ASC Key Club members from walking for Homeless Awareness, today. This group prayed for the homeless, as they made their way to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission where they visited with guests, while enjoying hot chocolate and a buffet of cookies.

Yesterday, twelve of All Saints finest participated in FOX Sports-Detroit Football Week in Michigan. This is an event that is similar to a relay, where a football is carried by high school students from throughout Michigan to Ford Field; each student runs approximately one mile and carries the same football. Our students had a "ball" and we hope to participate in this event again next year.

One of our very own is on his way to the priesthood! Congratulations to Marc Hopps, 2009 ASC graduate and son of Gary and Maribeth Hopps, who has been called to Holy Orders by Bishop Cistone and will be ordained into Transitional Diaconate on Friday, November 30 at our Cathedral. Marc will not be a permanent deacon, but one who is in transition~one who is on his way to priesthood. Please keep Mark and all our seminarians in your prayers as they continue their wonderful journey to priesthood.

Summer vacation is quickly coming to a close. The classrooms and halls of All Saints are ready...ready to be filled the energy of our students, and teachers and staff are looking forward to a new year of growth, knowledge and fun. School starts at 7:40 a.m. on Monday, August 27; the schedule for the first week is as follows: Monday, 8/27 is a half day of school with dismissal at 11:15 a.m. for High School and 11:20 a.m. for Middle School. Tuesday, 8/28, Wednesday, 8/29 and Thursday, 8/30 are full days of school with dismissal for High School at 2:25-2:52 p.m. and 2:52 p.m. for Middle School. Friday, 8/31-no school. Monday, 9/3-no school. Tuesday, 9/4 classes resume with full day sessions. *Uniforms are to be worn starting on Monday, August 27*

Grace and Ellie will not only be attending Albion College in the fall, but they will also be playing tennis there! The girls have been Doubles partners since they were freshmen, and have won multiple tournaments and Regional Championships. Coach Wagner is one very proud coach, and is thrilled that Albion College will be getting two of his amazing players to be part of their team.

How do you begin to say thank you for an absolutely wonderful evening? For a delicious dinner? For the opportunity to enjoy each other's company outside of the work place? Through the very generous donations of Cougar parents, past and present, we, the ASC teachers/staff and our guests, were treated to all that and more this past Friday evening. Thank you to Lynne Bever for opening her lovely home to us, to Tom and Dinah DuRussel, Bob and Kim Spyhalski, Jim and Rose Hunter, Jeff and Kay Bisel and Denny and Mary Lou Datte who all pampered us throughout the evening. This ASC Junior is one of the Bay County students that will be attending the Engineering Scholars Summer Youth Program. This one week program through HSC/MTU will take place at Michigan Tech, and students will participate in group projects focusing on various engineering fields.
