On Sunday, June 2, many local musicians and friends gathered at Scotty’s Sandbar for a memorial to Mark “Makko” Neering. Mark was an All Saints alum ‘76 and music legend from the Bay City/Essexville area with the KMJ Band~he drummed barefoot! Thank you to Jill (ASCE 2nd grade teacher) and Scott Causley, the many musicians who came and performed and all those that attended in Mark’s honor. The proceeds from the event were generously donated to the All Saints Music Department. Ken Yagiela, Director of the ASC Music Department, cannot say thank you enough for this very generous donation to our schools.

Congratulations to Mrs. Mary Beth Neetz who was a finalist in the Diocese of Saginaw Catholic Schools’ inaugural Excellence in Teaching Award. Mary Beth is said to be “a true inspiration for her students to try their hardest, to never lose sight of what’s most important and to always keep their faith!” “Students can’t wait until they have Mrs. Neetz as a teacher. She does many learning projects with the students. So much of what she does is outside of regular paper/pencil learning.” Thank you, Mary Beth, for your 28 years of dedication to Catholic education~this recognition is very well deserved! How do you begin to say thank you for an absolutely wonderful evening? For a delicious dinner? For the opportunity to enjoy each other's company outside of the work place? Through the very generous donations of Cougar parents, past and present, we, the ASC teachers/staff and our guests, were treated to all that and more this past Friday evening. Thank you to Lynne Bever for opening her lovely home to us, to Tom and Dinah DuRussel, Bob and Kim Spyhalski, Jim and Rose Hunter, Jeff and Kay Bisel and Denny and Mary Lou Datte who all pampered us throughout the evening. This dinner may have been meant to appreciate all of us, but it is US, that appreciates the kind and giving hearts of all of you!
