PRAYER Today we remember St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen who was born in Germany and lived in the 17th century.  His name was Mark Rey and he was a lawyer who helped defend the poor.  He entered the religious order of the Capuchins and took the name Fidelis which means faithful. He defended the Catholic faith against heretics, which made those people angry enough to club him to death.

Today our prayer is part of a prayer written by St. Francis called Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon:

Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord, All praise is Yours, all glory, all honor and all blessings. Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun,

who is the day through whom You give us light. And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor, of You Most High, he bears the likeness. Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars, in the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair. Praised be You my Lord through Brother Fire, through whom You light the night and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong. Praised be You my Lord through our Sister, Mother Earth

who sustains and governs us, producing varied fruits with colored flowers and herbs.

Praise be You my Lord through those who grant pardon for love of You and bear sickness and trial. Praise and bless my Lord and give Him thanks, and serve Him with great humility.

St. Fidelis, pray for us. All Saints, pray for us.  Amen, alleluia.

PRAYER Today we remember St. Anselm of Canterbury lived in the 11th century, was born in Italy and became a Benedictine monk in Normandy at the age of 27.  He was very smart, and ministered as a great teacher and mystic and was chosen to be the Archbishop of Canterbury in England. his writings in theology and philosophy as well as many of the wonderful prayers he composed brought him to be declared a Doctor of the Church.

Today's prayer is from St. Anselm:

A Prayer from Anselm of Canterbury

O my God teach my heart where and how to seek you, where and how to find you…

You are my God and you are my All and I have never seen you.

You have made me and remade me,

You have bestowed on me all the good things I possess,

Still I do not know you…

I have not yet done that for which I was made….

Teach me to seek you…

I cannot seek you unless you teach me or find you unless you show yourself to me.

Let me seek you in my desire, let me desire you in my seeking.

Let me find you by loving you, let me love you when I find you.

St. Anselm, pray for us. All Saints, pray for us.  Amen

Lord, we pray for all those who are involved in the NHS blood drive, as they give the gift of life. May those lives they help be blessed as well as those who are giving of themselves to help others heal.  We also pray for a safe and wonderful trip for all those going to New York City...may angels surround their buses and their travels and may their experiences be wonderful.  St. Agnes, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen.  Alleluia.

PRAYER Today we remember Blessed James Oldo who lived in 14th century Italy.  He and his wife had money and lived comfortably, until the plague broke out.  He took his family to the hillsides to live but still two of his daughters died from the illness.  He and his wife became Secular Franciscans, they gave up their old lifestyle and began living with and caring for the poor.  After his wife died he became a priest and made his home into a chapel where many visited.  He cared for the sick and the prisoners of war.

Lord, we come to you this morning in thanksgiving for a beautiful day. We pray for an increase in reliance on you in our everyday lives; that we look for your will, that we seek out ways to witness to others and we pray for those who are in need.  Blessed James, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen.  Alleluia

I pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
