Lord we pray in a special way for 8th grade as they are on retreat today. May they be blessed and experience a deep relationship with you through the Saints which we can follow who exemplify the human struggle and gift to become holy.  St. John, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen.

PRAYER:

Today we remember St. Isaac Jogues who lived in 17th century France. When he was 17 he entered a Jesuit seminary and was ordained a priest at 29. Three months later he was sent as a missionary to what is now Canada and he ministered to the Huron and Algonquin Native American tribes.  He was captured by the Mohawks, and his hands were mutilated so badly that he could not say Mass but he kept preaching.  Finally after a year he escaped and went back to France, and after a time went back to Canada to continue to minister among the Mohawks.  He was martyred for his faith during an uprising.

Lord, so often we back away from difficulties, but St. Isaac continued to work and minister through them. May we allow the Holy Spirit to give us the courage we need to work through all of the issues we face on a daily basis, St. Isaac, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen

PRAYER:

Today we remember St. Ignatius of Antioch who lived in the 2nd century. He was from Syria and became the Bishop of Antioch.  He preached the truth of Jesus Christ, was arrested by the emperor and sentenced to be killed in Rome. On his way from Syria to Rome he wrote letters to the Churches to encourage them.  He was martyred for his faith in Rome.  He was the first person to use the term Catholic Church meaning Universal!

Lord, we ask for a strong faith in these days of confusion, disaster, and anger in our country and world. We thank you for the witness of neighbor helping neighbor, seeing you alive in the relief help of the hurricanes and wild fires.  Watch over them and protect them, help those grieving losses of loved ones and homes and businesses.  St. Ignatius, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen

He was a mystic and with his deep prayer and love for God he exhibited the gifts to levitate, bilocate and read souls.  His prayerful intercession during his life and after his death allowed for his canonization shortly after his death.  He is the patron saint of expectant mothers.

Please stand for prayer and the pledge.

Lord, we pray for all women who are pregnant, for their children in the womb and for safe deliveries of babies that will be loved and cared for.  Protect their lives dear Lord.   We pray for women who are looking forward to becoming pregnant and being blessed by children.  We pray for them and their hopes and dreams.  We also pray for those who are unable to bear children, that God will fill their hearts and homes with his care and love, and may they be able to become parents in your Will and plan.  St. Gerard, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen

PRAYER:

Today we remember St. Edward the Confessor who lived in the 11th century and was a prince in England. He was very humble and loved the Lord very much.  When he finally became King, he was known for his generosity to the poor and exhibited care and concern for those in his kingdom.  He built Westminster Abby, and was buried there.  After his death, many miracles were attributed to his prayerful intercession.  He was canonized a saint almost 100 years after his death, and when his body was moved to a new tomb it was found that his body was incorrupt. Please stand for prayer and pledge.

Lord, we pray for your blessing today and we ask for the prayers of Our Lady of Fatima as we remember the miracle of the sun 100 years ago today as so many in our country and world need prayers. You give us miracles throughout our lives, but we often fail to see them or understand that many coincidences are in actuality God-incidences.  Help us see you in all things and in all people.  We pray for those being affected by natural and unnatural disasters.  St. Edward, pray for us.  All Saints, pray for us.  Amen
